Golf and fishing are about the only things you can do where it’s acceptable to have a beer at 8:00 in the morning. There is nothing quite like enjoying a cold adult beverage before the dew dries on the fairways. If anyone ever questions your decision to crack a cold one just after the crack of dawn, simply explain it’s not all your doing, it’s in fact a golfing tradition that started in 1858 at St Andrews.

During a discussion among the club's membership board about how many holes a regulation golf course should have one of the more senior members pointed out that it takes exactly 18 shots to polish off a fifth of Scotch. If one is able to limit himself to just one shot per hole, a round of golf was finished when the Scotch ran out. The decision was made and all golf courses now have 18 holes.

Makes perfect since to me, although 3 six packs is a bit more than I can handle. Good thing I wasn’t born in Scotland.
